My name is Melissa Howard I live in Upstate NY.
I have 3 children and my rights as an American are under attack. I want my childrens future to be bright. I am a lesbian who has been in a relationship for 19+ years and I want people to know my family and to realize that we are just like everyone else except when it comes to the privileges and rights that other Americans enjoy that I can’t.
I believe that this is the election of my lifetime. We must get it right this time. I am involved this year because I want my children to know there are times to make a stand for your beliefs and convictions. When people ask my children why we are voting for Obama they proudly say because he believes in all families, he likes my family. That is the easiest for them to understand.
In NY our economy is horrible the taxes worst and no light at the end of the tunnel. Obama is our light at the end of the tunnel, the hope. Just to have hope in this day is something.
So we The Davis-Howard family are proud supporters of Obama/Biden. The hope for the Change we can believe in!!

I’m hoping for your rights too Melissa, but I have only heard Obama say you should be given the right to visit your partner in a hospital. Forget about wanting to marry your love of 19+ yrs for the 1,500 rights that come to play there, because I’ve heard him say more than once(marriage is between one man and one womin. But yes, we have to hope for change…
